I am Karen Bell, a Black Woman over 50 who has nurtured others, both personally and professionally, throughout my life. I have appreciated my journey and the many paths I have taken; 30 years as a performer and band leader, 10 years as a band owner and founder of my company, and nearing 25 years in higher education. I am also an artist, who began to ignore her own voice, just as society does regularly

Everyday, every hour, every minute I must remind myself to Live My Values. I work whole-heartedly in hopes of Black Women no longer needing such reminders for that which should have been given at birth: the right to live life as she chooses. This includes the pursuit of dreams and purpose in the name of love, happiness, and mental/emotional well-being.

Let Me Be Free To Love builds and nurtures a community that uplifts Black Women, all of whom are perpetually silenced and ‘othered’ by society.

We will foster and assist in the mobilizing of societal change in support of Black women, using art, live performances, and discussions as a vehicle.

We will share our stories, heal together and celebrate Black Women.

We invite you to join us in the applause.
