“If Black women were free, it would mean that everyone else would have to be free since our freedom would necessitate the destruction of all the systems of oppression.”

The Combahee River Collective Statement (1977) by the Black Women of the Combahee River Collective

As a black woman over 40 I am blessed with incredible women and men in my life, friends who have become extended family. But I am especially humbled by the extraordinary black women with whom I am in community…taking a moment to breathe and honor the gratitude I feel in my heart and my spirit because of this.
